Our Activities

Our local area of Eastham and its surroundings are rich in  WWII history and wartime installations, being an important target on the banks of the Mersey

We are looking towards  a greater involvement in the activities of the Hooton Trust who run the historic airfield on the East bank of the River Mersey, helping out at Western Approaches and the secret bunkers in Liverpool ( H Q of the battle of the Atlantic operations, and staging an annual WWII event at the heart of the village, as well as getting involved with the preservation of local WWII landmarks ( pillboxes and other defence structures )

Special Events

Community engagement

One of our passions as a group is the preservation, restoration and recording of local WW II monuments.; these included Pillboxes, Defensive Positions, and other largely abandoned buildings that have a link with the wartime era. We are currently considering the possibility of adopting a pillbox that can be used to educate and also used for training purposes. Invloving schools in such a project would be a worthy aim

Care of the local War memorial

A source of focus that is essential in what we do

The laying of a wreath in November 2020 my in itself seem a small act, but for us it signalled the inauguration of our group. What better way to launch our Living History Project than by honouring in such a profound way those we aim to represent
